WHY CHOOSE AN EXTRACTION SLIT NOZZLE INSTEAD OF AN EXTRACTION HOOD?

During welding, effectively extracting welding fumes is a major challenge for operators health and regulatory compliance.

Unlike an extraction hood, chose effectiveness is limited by distance and air movement, laminar slit nozzle stops fumes immediately after they are generated, reducing their dispersion within the workshop and welders’ exposure.

In TIG, MIG, or MMA welding, fumes are generated directly at the weld pool and rise very quickly.

The extraction slit nozzle creates an uniform suction flow along all its width, positioned in the

The laminar slit nozzle creates a uniform suction flow across its entire width, positioned along the natural path of the fumes and directed away from the operator’s breathing zone.

This capture method makes it possible to intercept fumes as soon as they are generated, prevent their dispersion within the workshop, and significantly reduce welders’ exposure.

This principle is fully aligned with the recommendations of industrial ventilation guidelines regarding the capture of welding fumes.

In manual welding, working positions constantly change and the operator works as close as possible to the fume emissions. In this context, an extraction hood installed at a distance must operate with very high airflow rates—often around 5,000 m³/h—to effectively capture pollutants.

These high airflow rates result in significant energy consumption, require a substantial supply of make-up air, and can negatively impact operator thermal comfort, particularly during winter.

In contrast, the REVOLFLOW low-vacuum laminar slit nozzle, positioned in close proximity to the welding area, ensures efficient capture with an airflow rate of around 1,500 m³/h. Thanks to targeted and uniform suction across the entire width of the capture device, it reduces airflow requirements by a factor of three while optimizing capture efficiency.

Installed facing the welder, the low-vacuum laminar capture device extracts fumes away from the breathing zone while maintaining full visibility of the welding area.

Unlike a suspended extraction hood, no element obstructs the space above the workpiece.

This configuration allows:

  • direct reduction of fume exposure,
  • improved visibility of the weld pool,
  • a more natural and comfortable working posture,
  • more precise and less constrained movements.

The REVOFLOW laminar slit nozzle offers:

  • Full-width capture across the entire capture device, with a distance of up to 500 mm depending on the application and welding process,
  • Easy integration onto extraction arms thanks to its weight of less than 3 kg,
  • 360° rotation for simple and more comfortable adjustment,
  • Improved visibility thanks to positioning behind the workpiece.

With their extraction at source, laminar slit nozzle are an efficient solution for manual welding.

They therefore contribute to:

  • significantly improving welder protection,
  • maintaining a cleaner and healthier working environment,
  • meeting regulatory requirements and the recommendations of prevention bodies.
