Boilermaking

The process begins with a design phase, where engineers work from plans and specifications provided by clients. Technical drawings are created using computer-aided design (CAD) software to define the dimensions, shapes, and assembly methods of the components. Metal sheets and tubes are cut into the shapes specified in the plans using plasma, laser, or oxy-fuel cutting machines.

The parts are then formed through processes such as bending, rolling, or curving to achieve the desired shape. The formed metal components are assembled by welding, a crucial step that determines the strength and durability of the structure.

Welding is carried out according to strict standards to ensure the integrity of the welds, especially for pressure vessels and critical structures. After assembly, the structures undergo rigorous testing, such as ultrasonic inspections or leak tests, to check for defects in the welds and ensure the structures meet safety standards. The components may then be painted or treated for corrosion resistance, depending on project requirements.

The boilermaking industry is primarily focused on custom manufacturing. Metal parts and structures are often specifically designed for unique projects, based on the particular requirements of clients, such as tanks for industrial facilities, structures for bridges, or piping for pipelines. Although series production is less common, some standardized elements, such as commonly sized tanks or simple structural components, can be produced in series. However, even these standard products may require adjustments to meet the exact specifications of the clients.
